Dr. Andres Pinto Named ADA Evidence Reviewer

Andres Pinto, DMD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Oral Medicine-Clinician Educator and Director of the Oral Medicine Clinic at Penn Dental Medicine, has been selected by the American Dental Association's (ADA) Research Institute and Center for Evidence Based Dentistry to serve as an ADA Evidence Reviewer (AER). AER members are chosen based on their commitment to evidence-based dentistry and research in oral health, and are responsible for the assessment of current literature supporting practice guideline recommendations in diverse fields of dental medicine. Dr. Pinto's key areas of research include salivary gland disease, pediatric oral medicine, and the epidemiology of oral disease.

Reviewers will develop critical summaries of systematic reviews that will serve as a resource for other dental practitioners in their clinical decision-making process. All summaries will be published on the ADA's upcoming evidence based dentistry web site and a subset of them will also be published in the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA). Dr. Pinto will attend a training session for AER members at the ADA headquarters in Chicago this coming June.
