Graduate Dental Education Programs

Penn Dental Medicine offers a range of postgraduate study options. The following sections provide an overview of Graduate Dental Education programs:

Masters of Science in Oral Biology
This program is available to qualified students interested in an academic career; in most cases, concurrent clinical specialty training is required to apply to this program.

A DMD/DDS degree is required for all Graduate Dental Education Programs. Individuals who do not have a DMD/DDS (e.g. individuals holding a BDS or other degrees) need to have their credentials evaluated to show that your degree is equivalent to a DMD/DDS reported by the credentialing service. This must be included with the application materials prior to the application being submitted and considered complete. Please visit these websites (www.ierf.org, www.ece.org, www.wes.org) for completion of this process.

In addition all accepted candidates are required to obtain training licensure from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, if you don't hold a current dental license in the State of Pennsylvania. Those candidate accepted into a Graduate Dental Education Program that have met the DMD/DDS equivalency requirement, must forward the original credentialing evaluation to the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry for approval of the training licensure prior to matriculation into the program.
