Research Interests
Dr. Ricciardi's research interests involve the mechanisms by which viral proteins of human tumorigenic viruses regulate gene expression and produce disease and cancer. One major project studies the newly discovered HHV-6 and HHV-8 human herpes viruses. He has cloned certain replication proteins of these viruses to develop antiviral strategies. Dr. Ricciardi's teaching responsibilities for Penn Dental Medicine include the Virology course and a Division of Advanced Dental Education course.
