Director, Dr. Synguk Kim
The
Training Center was established as the first university-based Microscope
Training Program in 1992 by Syngcuk Kim, D.D.S., Ph.D., Louis I. Grossman
Professor and Chairman of the Department of Endodontics. Since its
inception, leaders in endodontic education and clinical practitioners
from the U.S.A. and around the world have been trained at the Center.
Dr. Kim is a renowned microcirculatory researcher and practicing endodontist.
He has been using the surgical operating microscope since 1974 in
his research and since 1992 in his private endodontic practice in
Rockefeller Center, New York City. He has also been an instrumental
force in incorporating microendodontics and microsurgery into endodontic
practice in the USA. Dr. Kim is the primary author of the "Color Atlas
of Microsurgery in Endodontics" (Mosby, 2001) and chief editor of
" The Microscope In Endodontics" (Dental Clinics of North America,
1997).
Administrator, Jutta Dörscher-Kim
Mrs. Jutta Dörscher-Kim received her B.A. and her M.A. from Columbia University in New York in 1978 and 1982 respectively. She is Administrator for the Microscope Training Center and the International Program for Foreign Dentists and is responsible for the departmental continuing education activity.
Our Facilities
Our state-of-the-art Microscope Training Center has
seven training stations equipped with Global, JedMed, Leica, Möller
and Zeiss operating microscopes; TV monitors; video recorders, video
printers; Spartan ultrasonic units; Lightspeed, Profile and a selection
of other nickel titanium files with engine driven rotary handpieces;
Obtura obturation systems, Touch'n Heat and System-B as well as a
full complement of microendodontic and microsurgical instruments,
Hartzell Co., Spartan/Obtura and others.
Participants have their own stations and their own instructors
for the duration of the training courses guaranteeing maximum hands-on
experience. The Center provides an academic and objective environment
where participants can test each of the microscopes, instruments and
materials.
