Penn Predoctoral Endodontic Society: AAE/ABE

American Association of Endodontists
The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) is a not-for-profit organization of endodontists and other professionals worldwide with an interest in endodontics. The AAE was founded in 1943, and approximately 93 percent of the nation's endodontists are members. There are over 6,500 members from the United States, Canada, and around the world. The goal of the AAE is to promote the exchange of ideas, to stimulate research and to encourage the highest standard of quality care in the practice of endodontics. The Association also sponsors the AAE Foundation to promote the advancement of the science of endodontics by funding quality research in the field of endodontics and pulp biology for the future benefit of patients receiving endodontic care. The AAE publishes the monthly Journal of Endodontics and an annual membership directory in addition to various newsletters and educational material for the members, the public, and the profession of dentistry.

American Board of Endodontics
The American Association of Endodontists sponsors the American Board of Endodontics (ABE). Founded in 1964, the ABE is the only certifying board for the specialty of endodontics and is recognized by the American Dental Association. Its purpose is to assure the public that the endodontists it certifies have demonstrated exceptional knowledge, skill and expertise in the specialty of endodontics and to progressively raise the quality of patient care.
